DESCRIPTION:Drawing inspiration from annual Ag Day events held throughout the United States\, the Eden Area (unincorporated communities of Ashland\, Castro Valley\, Cherryland\, Fairview\, and San Lorenzo) will host our very first Ag Day event. Eden Area AgDay will educate local third-grade students about the rich history and future of agriculture in our community.\n\n\n\nThis event will:\n\n-Include hands-on interactive demonstrations \n\n-Showcase local farmers (rural and urban)\, ranchers\, and ag-related groups\n\n-Present the variety of career pathways in agriculture and how they relate to the S.T.E.M. (science\, technology\, engineering\, and math) fields\n\n-Provide teachers with sample curriculum packets to further ag education in the classroom beyond this event.\n\n\n\nOur goal is for students to be exposed to the possibilities of agriculture and become inspired to learn more about growing food\, nutrition\, and honoring our local history.
