SUMMARY:HAHS Exhibit Closing Day - Loyal Americans: Japanese American Imprisonment During World War II
DESCRIPTION:Loyal Americans: Japanese American Imprisonment During World War II\n\nOn view through October 28\n\nIn the Special Gallery at the HAHS Museum of History & Culture\, 22380 Foothill Blvd in Hayward\n\nRelocation. Evacuation. Internment. Imprisonment. Incarceration. These are all words used to describe the Japanese and Japanese American experience of World War II. The stories of those that lived through this period\, as well as their descendants\, are more relevant today than ever\, while we as a society still grapple with issues of immigration\, race\, and discrimination. Loyal Americans: Japanese American Imprisonment During World War II is an exhibition of artifacts and stories of people whose civil rights were violated. Conversely\, they also show the courage and bravery of ordinary Americans in extraordinary circumstances. This exhibition is supported by the Eden Township Japanese American Citizens League.
