Part-Time Marketing Assistant for Rustic Gem Jewelry
Position: Marketing Assistant (Part-Time)
Location: Primarily Remote with As-Needed Onsite Work in Castro Valley, CA
Hours: 10–12 hours per week to start, with potential to evolve into 15–20 hours per week.
About Us: Rustic Gem Jewelry is a small, woman-owned business based in Northern California. Led by owner and designer Tracy Kennedy, Rustic Gem blends big-city fashion with the natural beauty of its surroundings to create versatile, stylish jewelry. Each piece is handcrafted by Tracy using high-quality gemstones and metals, designed to help women exude confidence and stand out in any setting. Tracy is passionate about creating meaningful, authentic connections through her designs and is looking for a creative and proactive Marketing Assistant to join her small team.
Responsibilities:
Social Media Management (Primary Focus):

Plan, create, and schedule engaging social media content (Instagram, Facebook, and Pinterest currently) to align with the brand’s voice and vision.

Create and edit high-quality videos for Reels, Stories, and other social media formats using an iPhone or other tools.

Develop visually appealing photography, graphics, and videos to showcase products and behind-the-scenes moments.

Engage with followers by responding to comments and messages, fostering a sense of community.

Stay up-to-date on social media trends, including video trends, to keep the brand relevant and innovative.

Understand and take direction from Tracy to ensure all social media content reflects the brand’s creative vision, vibe, and authenticity.

Optimize social media posts for maximum reach and engagement across all platforms. Analyze and report performance make recommendations accordingly.
Website & Email Coordination:

Collaborate with the website consultant to provide content, images, and copy for email campaigns and website updates.

Ensure all communications are visually cohesive and reflect the brand identity.
Photoshoot & Event Support:

Assist in planning and coordinating photoshoots, including staging, styling, and capturing behind-the-scenes content as needed.

Provide onsite support for planning and hosting events, including planning, setup, check out, customer interaction, and promotion.
Event Participation:

Support three major events annually (e.g., holiday markets, pop-ups) and 3–5 smaller event appearances.

Join Tracy for live social media sales during events, assisting with setup, product presentation, and interacting with customers online.

Help with logistics, setup, and creating an engaging experience for event attendees.
Content Planning & Analytics:

Maintain and manage a content calendar to ensure consistent, strategic posting across platforms.

Track analytics and performance metrics to refine strategies and report on social media growth.
Cross-Training for Back-Office Support:

Receive training on back-office order processing and inventory systems to step in during staff vacations or busy periods. Includes occasionally dropping items at local USPS.

Ensure orders are organized, processed, and fulfilled accurately when assisting.
Qualifications:

Strong skills in photography and videography using an iPhone, with the ability to create and edit videos for Reels, Stories, and other formats.

Proficient in Canva (or similar tools) for creating social media graphics and visuals. Ability to prep for printed assets as well.

Experience managing and growing social media accounts, particularly Instagram and Facebook.

Strong organizational and communication skills with the ability to multitask effectively.

Ability to learn and understand Tracy’s creative vision for the brand and translate it authentically into marketing strategies and materials.

Experience with ManyChat and social media optimization is highly desirable.

A proactive, self-motivated attitude and a passion for storytelling through visuals and content.

Flexibility to occasionally work onsite for events, photoshoots, and live social media sales (in or near Castro Valley, CA).
Preferred but Not Required:

Familiarity with Pinterest, TikTok, and email marketing platforms.

Experience in fashion, jewelry, or lifestyle branding.
Schedule & Compensation:

Hours: 10–12 hours per week to start, with the possibility of increasing to 15–20 hours as the role evolves.

Pay: $25–$30/hour, based on experience.

Work Environment: Primarily remote with occasional onsite requirements for meetings, training, content creation, events, photoshoots, and live sales.
