Detective Sergeant Fenton Culley has been employed with the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office for 20 years and is currently assigned as the Manager/Supervisor of the Real Time Information Center (RTIC) and the Investigations Support Unit (ISU) at the Eden Township Substation. Sergeant Culley developed and established the RTIC from its inception, including all procurement, grant writing, and the acquisition of software and technology-based hardware.
Sergeant Culley has previously worked investigative assignments in Robbery, Narcotics, and Community Oriented Policing, and served as a Field Training Officer. He was assigned to the Castro Valley area for several years on patrol prior to his promotion. In addition to his current role at the RTIC, Sergeant Culley teaches several topics at the Police Academy and serves as the lead supervisor for a multi-agency, proactive street takeover (“sideshow”) enforcement team known as the Alameda County Regional Side Show Enforcement Team (RESET).
Sergeant Culley’s presentation is designed to help business leaders and community members develop a better understanding of the RTIC, the Drone First Responder (DFR) program, and the current technology being successfully utilized by the Alameda County Sheriff’s Office. He will also address current challenges in the process and highlight successes that have led to significant organizational changes in day-to-day operations. The development of an RTIC, in combination with DFR, represents the future of policing and provides significant benefits at a time when law enforcement agencies face nationwide staffing challenges.
Additional discussion topics will include multi-agency collaboration, the evolution of technology, breaking down internal silos, and the importance of the Sheriff’s Office’s partnership with local business leaders and community members.
